  • Berit received the EuChemS Division of Organic Chemistry Award for Service! The award will be handed out at ESOC 2025 in Copenhagen.
  • Our Nature Chemistry News and Views on Waser's cool paper about cyclopropenium benziodoxoles is now out.
  • Ester won the Ludwig Ramberg Thesis Award in Organic Chemistry! It is awarded every second year by the Swedish Chemical Society to draw attention to the most outstanding doctoral dissertation in organic chemistry in Sweden. Congratulations Ester!
  • Our former post doc Tue Petersen is now Associate Professor at DTU Chemistry in Denmark. Congratulations Tue!
  • The application period for the PhD position is now closed, and interviews will take place in the beginning of May.

  • We have an open post doc position! Application deadline September 5; submit through the university recruitment system ReachMee. Starting date November 1, 2023.
  • We're looking for talented post doc candidates to apply for funding from WennerGren Foundations with - the application deadline is October 1 and the result will be published in early December. Starting date in winter/spring 2024. Email Berit to find out more!
  • Erika will defend her thesis on Friday, August 25 @ 10.00 with Prof. Thomas Wirth from Cardiff University as the opponent.
  • Leonard and Berit participated in ESOC in Ghent, Belgium in July. Great conference, great networking, great weather! Leonard presented a poster and Berit participated as President Elect of the international ESOC committee.
  • The International Conference in Hypervalent Iodine Chemistry, ICHIC 7, was held at Stockholm university in June. The meeting was a great success! Some photos available on Twitter at #ICHIC7, and a short report by the Swedish Chemical Society!

  • Miguel presented and defended his master thesis in an excellent way, and got the highest possible grade (A)! Congratulations Miguel, and good luck with finding your next position.
  • Berit presented SUCCeSS (Stockholm University Center for Circular & Sustainable Systems) at the Nordic Sustainability Expo.
  • There are still a few seats left for late registration to the International Conference in Hypervalent Iodine Chemistry, ICHIC 7, in Stockholm June 25-28, 2023. The abstract deadline for posters is June 1st.
  • Erika will defend her thesis August 25 - more details will come in due time.

Spring

  • Erika Linde successfully presented her halftime seminar June 29, with Prof. Daniel Strand from Lund University as opponent. We're now finalizing the manuscript describing her exciting results!
  • The Chemistry section developed a new outreach concept together with KRC last year, called "Zoom with a PhD student". Highschool teachers are offered to book zoom talks on various chemistry topics to stimulate the chemistry interest of their pupils, and our PhD students get a chance to practice presentation of their research to the public. The concept was very well recieved, and has now become a national project! Spring lectures - Fall lectures
  • Erika Linde will present her halftime seminar June 29, with Prof. Daniel Strand from Lund University as opponent.
  • Strange conference times - Berit gave digital versions of invited talks at the Tetrahedron Symposium in June, and at ECHC in April.

  • The collaboration with Ulf Nilsson's group on biological studies of O-arylated carbohydrates is now published in in a special issue of Helv. Chim. Acta, dedicated to Prof. Antonio Togni's 65th birthday. Congrats Gabbi, Gergely and the team in Lund (and Antonio)!
  • Gabbi will defend her thesis, with Prof. Boris Nachtsheim as opponent, on February 26th at 10.00. The defence will be public and digital (zoom link here). Mark your calendars!
  • We finally have a new group picture, with covid distancing of course!
  • Micaela Ubillos and Alexandru Postole have started projects in the group, welcome!
  • The announced CTS post doc position, which attracted a large number of high quality applications, has now been filled. The next planned opening is a PhD position that will be announced in April.

  • Berit is included along with many eminent fellow scientists in the list of World's Top 2% Scientists! The ranking is based on c-score, a composite indicator for career-long impact. The list can be downloaded here.
  • The third virtual Hypervalent Iodine virtual symposium will take place November 18, with Berit & Thomas Wirth as the invited speakers. Registration is free of charge.

  • We have been nominated to the "Hero of the year" prize for our hand sanitizer project. The winner is selected through a public vote, so make your voice heard!

Berit will also attend 10th YIW (Young Investigator Workshop), Oxford and Marucs & Gabbi will participate in the 7th EuCheMS, Liverpool.
  • Marcus has been awarded the Sigrid Arrhenius scholarship, which provides one scholarship per year (46 000 SEK) to a PhD student performing outstanding research work leading to a doctoral degree at Stockholm University’s Faculty of Science. Congratulations Marcus!
