My work involved the study of dynamic kinetic resolution of allylic alcohols in asymmetric hydrogenation. This involved synthesis of allylic alcohols for expansion of the substrate scope, optimization of the hydrogenation, and evaluation of performance in the methodology.
Scheme 1 – Reported DKR of allylic alcohols.
The group has reported DKR in this system, observing high yield and ee. Further work involves exploration of substrate scope and evaluation of new catalysts that may be more effective in the methodology. The substrate scope has so far been found to include a variety of alcohols with different substituents on the chiral centre and in the a and b positions, along with additional alcohol derivatives.
