1. Check sample for the presence of C₁₆ and C₁₈ fatty acids by GLC.
2. If phospholipds are present ( C₁₆ and C₁₈ fatty acids) the extract with CHCl₃:CH₃OH:H₂O 16:8:1
3. Verify the absence of phospholipds by TLC (CHCl₃:CH₃OH:H₂O:Triethylamine 30:15:2.5:0.1).
