Nicklas obtained his Master degree in 2006 from Stockholm University. Thereafter, he joined the group of Prof. Kálmán Szabó for PhD studies. In 2010 Nicklas defended his thesis entitled “Catalytic Functionalization of Allylic Substrates by Palladium Pincer Complexes”.
After the PhD, he spent two years in the group of Prof. Valery V. Fokin at The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, USA working on Rh-catalyzed transformations of 1-sulfonyl-1,2,3-triazoles. The postdoctoral stay was funded by the Swedish Research Council (VR).
In 2013, a generous VR Junior researcher grant made it possible to move back to Stockholm and the Department of Organic Chemistry to establish his own group.
