Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry, 1967, Associate Professor 1972, Professor 1980-1998, all at the Royal Institute of Technology. From 1999 research leader at Organic Chemistry, Stockholm University, together with prof. Licheng Sun.

Dean of undergraduate studies, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Royal Institute of Technology, 1984-87 and 1994-97. Associated Professor, Colorado State University (USA) 1985. Visiting Scolar, Stanford University (USA), 1967-1968 and 1977-1978. Visiting Professor at the Universities of Napoli (Italy) 1987,1989, and 1992, and Aix-Marseilles (France) 1987.
